Son Real is also rich in prehistoric remains. The prehistoric remains in the municipality of Santa Margarita are plentiful, and at the same time of great variety and importance, the area of Son Real and Son Serra being the most spectacular areas. Their remains indicate that this region was populated since the first settling of the "hombre balear" (native of the Balearics) until the romanization.

Necrópolis de Son Real. The most outstanding of all monuments is the necropolis of Son Real. It belongs to the postmegalithic age and was used from 500 B.C. to 10 B.C., already in the Roman period.

It is formed by a multitude of tombs, one hundred of which have been examined. They are of diverse forms, perfect construction and some of them of great size. After the excavations, more than one hundred skeletons and their trousseaus were preserved.

The settlers of the megalithic age of Majorca buried in artificial caves. This makes Son Real unique.
